BSC reminds us

higher gas prices = goodbye disposable income = goodbye people buying new books. Well, she didn't say that exactly, but I took it to the logical, most depressing conclusion.

In other news, it's still raining and we still don't have a sidewalk. We do have four nifty orange cones.

  1. Actually, I'm not convinced that's the only conclusion, Kate. From what I remember of studying various depressions, including the Great Depression, movies and entertainment still did fairly well. It seems that when times are hard, people need to escape that much more, and books, movies, and other forms of entertainment do that for them.

    Here's hoping, anyway.

  2. Books will triumph - and people can burn them to keep warm when they can't afford to buy heating oil anymore...There is hope for books yet.
