FREE BOOKS through tomorrow

In celebration of Love Between the Lines release, I'm giving away books--including Love Between the Lines . (Hey, promo makes no sense to me either) These three are free through October 15. Here are the freebies.... Thank You, Mrs. M 4.5 stars! This is a sweet, funny and emotional tale. This modern take on Daddy-Long-Legs, by Jean Webster, has wonderful, fully developed characters... This incredible story will appeal to adult as well as young readers. -- RT Bookreviews Magazine Thank You, Mrs. M. is a wonderful read...This is a poignant and enjoyable read. -- Night Owl Reviews This is not just Daddy Long Legs gender-reversed and updated for shock value, but a thoughtful and really interesting re-imagining of how the story might play out in today's world. There are light homages to the original, which add a bit of extra glow to the romance if you're a fan, but what really made the story for me were the differences. It turns out the unknown philanthropist, h...

A New Cover!

NEW COVER!! This is a book that used to be by Summer Devon; and old title was The Mad Baron (I seem to change just a word or two of those old titles.) Why did I do this? I got the rights back from the publisher and I couldn't use the old cover, which I liked a lot (the hero matched perfectly). Bonus for me: the new cover is something like the cover for Powder of Sin. Angie Waters is good at making them similar. old cover I'm making the non-paranormal m/f historical titles by Kate rather than Summer. We are talking branding, people; I am so twentieth century. Look for Her Mad Baron sometime in the next day or two at Amazon. It's going to be a Amazon Select book because it's been a while since I tried one of those, so why not?  * * * * *  --And since today is apparently marketing day here at Kate's blog-- Every now and then, I do a list of all the books I've written. I just complied a list for the back of the new version of Mad Baron. Man ...

Oh, right. I forgot to tell you.

HEY! brendurbanist at gmail dot com You won. I forgot to tell you guys that! Sorry! I posted the winners in other spots but where the actual winner showed up? Nope. I'll be sending you the book.  Taming the Bander had a nice little run--in the top 100 gay books at Amazon and the top ten at Samhain off and on most of the week (still lingering at the top at Samhain). Now this week's batch of books will take its place. But I did like seeing that and I took screen shots which I will keep and gloat over during the long dark days of bad sales. In other news they're doing stuff to the old Borders across the street. The ghost writing, the shadow of the store's name is gone so we can move on. Adios entirely, Borders. This passage along time goes faster and faster. AAAAAAAAAAnd that's about it. Except they have the music cranked too loud here at Barnes and Noble. It lends a sense of desperation to the place as if it's trying to grab us and make us buy music, ple...

all dressed up and nowhere to go

I have this wicked cool graphic that Angela Waters made for me, but I don't know where to put it. An ad? I haven't advertised in forever (I didn't see much of a change in my numbers when I bought ads) but maybe I should buy an ad just to get the gif out there. Two more days until the book releases. The title still makes me snicker, thanks to Mike. Hey, come on--easily amused is a feature.

you can still vote for me.

Of course you have to slog through hundreds of categories and thousands of names, but I am there. Best Author (in the "Local People" category.) I'll buy you a cup of coffee if you do.  Voting ends March 4.

older book, new review

"Readers are sure to love this impressive latest offering from Dee and Devon." That sentence alone is worth a celebratory cup of coffee. From Romantic times: Four Stars!  THE PSYCHIC AND THE SLEUTH by Bonnie Dee, Summer Devon Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Psychic, Paranormal Romance Sensuality: SCORCHER RT Rating Readers are sure to love this impressive latest offering from Dee and Devon. In Victorian England, loving another man is more scandalous than being a murderer , so Robert has always kept his proclivities a deep secret. But the gently disarming Oliver is an enticement he can’t resist. A deep mystery, a family scandal and a passion that can’t be denied, painted with lyrical language, all elevate this novel a step above the usual. Inspector Robert Court was never happy with the execution of the rag-and-bones man who was charged with murdering his cousin. Something wasn’t right, but his superiors wouldn’t let him pursue it. Instead, ...

Paper! Back! and a give-away

I found a box of books from Samhain on my front porch--it's the same book, over and over, Unnatural Calamities.  I read everything on my Kindle these days. I don't make any money from print books. Given a choice, I'd rather not have my books go into print. And yet...and yet. It's still cool to hold a real book. I'm not over my print addiction.  This one even has a nice cover. (I was mostly embarrassed when Irrational Arousal showed up on my porch). The back cover is nice too. It's red on white. Yum. I'm fond of this book--this is the story that has every romance trope I could imagine in it-- so I'll keep at least one copy for me. Linda picked one up, flipped it open and said, "hey, look a typo." It was a "joke" ha ha ha. We both agreed that we never ever look in books because we do not want to see those things. No, no. I brought it into work (Barnes and Noble--we sit in the cafe and type, so I'm not talking real work). I...

so much to do today

Yes, yes, it's all promo. But really, this is a new book release day so I can't be blamed, dudes. Plus this is a release day with bells and whistles. What do I mean? First up: 1. Here's an audiobook! Yes, an AUDIOBOOK . Read by someone named Angele Masters who is a freaking professional. She's good, too. Serious Play/out Today/it's not Gay I listened to the sample and it happened to land in a chapter that I mostly wrote** (Bonnie and I alternate chunks of the book, usually chapters, and then add words and whatnot to each other's chunk). It's the first time in a long time I've heard one of my books read by someone who wasn't me (ick, unbearable) or the robotic voice of the computer (works for editing). I'd supposed I'd be embarrassed to hear my words read, but really it brought me back to old writing classes, the kind where the teacher reads the papers for the class. You look around, trying to see how everyone's taking in you...
