short and easy and here we go

161 & 5 Book Meme from Darla
Rules:
1. Grab the book closest to you
2. Open it to page 161
3. Find the fifth full sentence
4. Post the text of the sentence to your blog
5. Don't search around for the coolest book you have, use the one that is really next to you
6. Tag five people to do this meme.

Oh jeeeeeesus. The book closest to me at the moment is the Compact Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. No, no, a thousand times, no.

Okay how about this one, wedged in next to the OED's box:
Zugibe is not on a mission to prove the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin--as, I suspect, Barbet was.

I'll post the title later. And I won't tag anyone because then I'll feel guilty, even though this is a fun one.

Comments

  1. My book 'The Secret of Shabaz' was right next to me because I was aboutto send it to someone, and the fifth sentence is "He covers me in gifts."

  3. What a fun little meme!

My desk is piled high with grammar books. The fifth sentence from p. 161 of The Deluxe Transitive Vampire illustrates how to eliminate a coma splice by using a semicolon.

She wrapped herself up in an enigma; there was no other way to keep warm.

  4. I love that grammar book, bettie!
and of course that Jennifer book, Sam.

My book = "Stiff: The Curious Book of Human Cadavers." I stole it from the shelf by my husband's desk about a year ago.

It occurs to me that my feet are resting on box of books and they're even closer than the OED. When I pull one of those out at random, this is what I get. "Op het bed begon de baby te huilen."

From "Goedhartige geweldenaar"the Dutch translation of Somebody Wonderful. I keep the SW and STL and the translations under my desk. Only a couple of each left.

There are some Taming Hims and a Revealing Skills in there too.
