three home truths

home truth: a fact that is usually disagreeable, painful, delicate. an important truth that is unpleasant to acknowledge (as about yourself)

1. I am not sorry to see Ed, Edd and Eddy go away. I find the colors of their mouths disturbing. I still like saying buttered toast, buttered toast the way one of them does. The kids hate that.

2. I am a rotten housekeeper and not a particularly good cook. The cooking is better than the keeping. I might have been an okay cook at one point, but the grind of cooking seven days a week for picky eaters has destroyed any desire. I am fairly sure my husband thinks he can do both better than I can. I'm sure he's right about the first, not as certain about the second.

3. I spend way too much time on the internet. Way, way. And I'm not as sorry about it as I should be. Especially not when I find < [interesting website to be inserted later because right now I'm off to create another dull meal] >great things < /a >like this.

  1. Nuthin' but the truth...

I'm an indifferent housekeeper married to a clean freak, who gets depressed when things are not spotless. Mr. Clean freak grew up in a wealthy family with maids. Now he has to deal with me. LOL.
I try to keep the surface clean. Do not open any drawers or closets in my house.

  2. Did your family have to sit through the "Goodbye to Ed, Edd, and Eddy" marathon? Ours did.
I liked them OK before the marathon. Now? No Thank you.

And I used to be a great cook. Inventive, creative, adventuresome. Now I'm lucky if I can crank out fish sticks with a smile on my face. I hate it.

(Although I've come to enjoy making salads for myself. I think because only I am going to eat them. No critics.)

  3. I'm a clean freak who has countermanded this neurosis with dogs that sleep in the bed with us and dust the place daily and liberally with hair. They concentrate their efforts on improving my mental health. When they are not doing that, the big dog likes to body slam me.

I hate Ed, Edd, and Eddy. They glorify stupidity and there's too much of that in this country as it is (it goes right to the top, in fact).

Cooking is a way of expressing love to your family. Don't you love your family? But, seriously. I put an effort into it because I have to eat it, too, and life is too short to eat crappy food. But then, I'm talking to the woman who sprays whipped cream into the gaping mouths of her children.

Okay, okay, I'll admit I suck whipped cream from the can, too. Happy now?

  8. Ed Edd and Eddy have one glorious point: they make it completely gross for boys and girls to kiss. Something I think is wonderful. My daughter is quite turned off by the bullying snogging girls and thinks they're stupid. You keep thinking that sweetie and there'll be no Little Darlings storylines in your teens!

  10. Ed Edd and Eddy are STILL ON. Dammit, it's like saying goodbye at a trainstation and turning around to find the person tagging along after you.

AYA, I count on you to come and cook for us. Sorry. You missed easter and the evil things we did to peeps, so you have to come visit soon.
