Every now and then when I think about my kids, I realize how very cool they are and how much I like them. I love them, too, but liking your kids isn't a given. Mine are funny, interesting, and even if nice doesn't always show itself (scuse me? boys? teenagers?) there's nice under there -- scathes of it. Oceans of nice. Ditto integrity. They get that from their dad. Anyway, the next time one of them annoys the shit out of me, I'll have to reread this.

Kate And Boy: Fashion Police

newly-16 is sick in bed. If he stirs, I say, "if you're well enough to ________, you can probably go to school" As a result, he's trapped like a rat and must put up with these conversations. me (holding Lands End catalogue points to the orange version of these .): Okay, tell me that when you're in charge, you'll outlaw pants like these on anyone older than five. (the paper version has a cute model) him : They look good on her. Let me see that again. me: But going out in public? In those? Did you look at them? him (still gaping at model) : Hmm? me: You'd seriously allow people like me to wear them in public? him: Oh, wait. They're not pajamas bottoms? me: No, they're regular sort of pants. Capris, even. him: Oh, ugh. Yeah, okay. Over five, they'd be shot. Although maybe not her. me: That's good enough for my vote, I guess. They're fine for five year olds. And maybe ironic punksters-- those pants plus hair dyed to match and Doc ...

middle boy during a dull class

He messes around with play writing. What a future he has, eh? As his brother points out, Castro is not a fascist. But tough noogies. The juvenile humor is what counts.... warning: contains bad language, of course. Fabrizi: Prezidente, I would like to be the first to welcome you to the Fascist Union’s installation here in the US. Castro: Gracias, gracias. It is my honor to associate with umm….. Fabrizi: Yes? Castro: The Fascist Union of Central Kentucky. Fabrizi: Oh, you mean FUCK? Castro: Er, yes, yes...of course. So tell me, what have you been working on, General? Fabrizi: Oh, you’re going to like this, presidente. From this installation we’re going to strike back at the capitalist pigs. Ah, here we are. [Tuco, a hairy burly man, enters.] This is our resident GIRL. Castro: He’s a girl? Tuco: Yes, Presidente. I am the General in Rocket Laboratories. Castro: Oh, I see. Tuco: Over the past few months, my partner [gestures to Fabrizi] and I have been working on a weapo...

filed under: Way Too Meta

I thought my kid was playing a multi-player game online but no, he is watching a video of a video game in which some players were griefing other players. Little cartoony guys are running around with big guns and yelling at each other. The voices are provided by the annoyed griefed (or would it be grieving?) guys. Lots of "get out of the way, faggot!" Although there is an amusing bit when they argue about bile. Liver, ya moron. Not the spleen. Apparently it is very funny. Here, You too can enjoy hours of fun watching people pretending to be characters pretending to kill for fun. **Makes the fishing channel look almost real. __________ **although I guess that's the basic idea of sitting around and watching say, Good Fellas or MacBeth . . .

six word autobiography

Stolen from Doug and he stole it from Salon. Sum up your lives in six words — no more, no less . Here's some of what Doug adds: This could have been mine: Too much hair, then not enough. I want to kick this guy’s ass: Found my path. Walked it fearlessly. I love the honesty of this next one. And, yes, it works for me, too. Frankly, it is all about me . The ones I come up with reflect a puzzled life. I figure that's what happens when you grow up in a family of smarty-pants and/or overachievers and then marry a smarty-pants overachiever and raise three s-p/oas. I'm always the last to know. at Doug's mine was: Huh? What? You say something? more reflections of my life: Urine by toilets, only I care. The dog and I need exercise. here's a cheery one for a change. I write smut; it's usually fun. Here's my boy2's all in all, an okay life Your turn. Leave them below or at Doug's or anywhere. Everywhere tiny pictures of your whole life. Kind of cool.

paranoid? me?

A visit from the SEC? I never check my stats but for some reason (a very specific reason = really bad bit of writing I need to change and am avoiding), I did tonight. And someone from the SEC spent more than ten minutes looking at four pages. Why would anyone from the Securities and Exchange spend a single second here? The socks? Are they interfering with our economy? Because I don't sell a lot of those guys. Nope. And I don't make a cent on them, either. And the ladies don't make more than a couple hundred at most. Even someone from the IRS would have nothing to complain about, nosirree. Also hello to the reader from Finland. UPDATE: boy two thinks I should reassure my reading public that I am not attempting to smuggle narcotics in the socks. For some reason he thinks that the SEC might be worried about that. I think we're both not clear about what that particular government agency does. I know all about the census bureau and the bureau of standards--that's wh...

God Help us

Boy2 is walking around imitating a New Zealander who spends fair chunk of tv air-time imitating David Bowie. ch-ch-ch-chaaaanges. The American/Kiwi/British accent is spot on . and Flight of the Conchords is so hawt, babee. Brent! I am 1986 David Bowie from the movie Labyrinth. So. You showed your penis to the man from the greeting card company . Boy2 has now discovered that the series is available on our "on demand" channel (four more months of the cable special deal and that thing's so out of here.) He's memorizing songs from it. He's hanging around youtube, watching "Hiphopopotomus vs. Rhymenoceros," stage version and the special street video. Also "Frodo, Don't Wear That Ring." It may be time to institute some Tough Love.
