It's election day! Yaaaah!
This means something wonderful to me. Something. . .that fills my heart with pure joy: I don't have to make--or receive--another GOTV** call for TWO YEARS!

Kate faints with relief.

I blogged about politics at Romance Unleashed. Talk about inappropriate subject matter. I hope I don't get booted out of the RU Club.

Darn. I wrote a comment, and then because of the whole stoopid beta-Blogger sign-on craziness, I lost it.

Anyway, good on you for taking an active interest and motivating others to exercise their responsibilities.

There's no GOTV calling here - voting is compulsory. They don't throw you in jail if you don't, but you get a polite 'please explain' letter and are expected to give a good reason.

We also don't have the political party preference registration-thing that you have - so nobody knows how I vote, or my preferences, or who I might vote for, unless I tell them myself. (So there's no call lists for rallying the troops...)

I'd get up on my soapbox about how I can't understand people who don't vote... but I'm running late for work.

  2. Tsk, tsk Bron, it's not nice to gloat when you a have a vastly superior system in place.

And there is the point that you also still have that Mr. Howard in place. (Okay, yes, you still win. I'd trade you President W for P.M. Howard.)

  3. There's some bizarre parallelism that you are worried that your politics will affect other people's acceptance of you as a Romance fan/author. Whereas I am worried that my "fandom" of Romance will affect other people's acceptance of me as a politician.

OK, it looked all spooky mysterious when I thought it up. But now that I wrote that thought down, I'm worried that perhaps that wine I drank last night is still having some effect.
