I blogged about contests

I blogged over at Samhain. I like that blog. So far people are doing a great job of avoiding too much promo (except on Samhain release days, of course. Go Ari!)

Tonight I was supposed to go to a fundraising event for one of the boy's school. I took the opportunity to flip out instead.

I think I'd rather have gone to the Pond House. Prettier views there. (Actually I did manage to show up for about ten minutes. Long enough for the other boy I had to drag along to wolf down a few brownies. So that was good.)

I don't know if any of you guys do panic, but it's seriously overrated as a hobby.

    I panic.
    BIGTIME!
    A few examples:
    -when I have to drive on the highway,
    -on kiddie rides (I don't even go near the grown-up ones)
    -in crowded elevators
    -when I'm boxed in by transport trucks
    -in the backseat of cars
    -airplanes
    -crowds
    I could go on but I don't want to brag...

    Nope - haven't thrown up,... yet. Give me time, I'm sure I'll hurl sooner or later. The attacks are getting worse with age!!

    btw - I did my Ellora's Cave bio and refrained from stealing yours outright. But I wanted to!!
    Like you, I went with humour. I mean, really, how seriously can I take myself -- a mother of wee young'uns writing erotica!! *blush*

No snark. Bad puppy. No. (Review stuff.)

A two star Amazon review on His American Detective: "Bodice ripper about gay men by a woman." and I'm longing to comment "don't you mean a waistcoat ripper?" God, no. Stop me. The reviews rarely rattle me any longer -- except when I spot a truth in a bad one. When that happens, I actually lose sleep. This means I still care about writing.  Speaking of reviewers and writers: A couple of days ago, a writer said she was tired of getting white ladies writing reviews of her books. She had an excellent point in the long run: her stories are meant for a particular audience and she wants them to resonate with those people and get more reviews from them.  But that first line was just....horribly obnoxious. I say this from my POV of course. Not a white lady who writes reviews -- but as a review grubber.   Anyone who disses any reader (especially ones that give honest reviews) deserves to be cast into the pit of being ignored.   ...
